Experiences we arrange

A travel desk below the Golden Fort

Our office is on Fort Road, opposite Fort Parking, in the Manak Chowk area of Jaisalmer. Many visitors pass it on their way up to the fort, which makes it easy to stop in, ask a question or finalise a plan in person. Most people, though, reach us before they arrive, on WhatsApp or by phone, and have everything arranged by the time their train pulls in.

Being in the old city also means we see how the day actually unfolds here: when the fort lanes get crowded, how long it takes to reach the dunes, and when the light is best for the drive back.

Why local knowledge matters in the Thar

Desert travel depends on timing. Sunset shifts by more than an hour between winter and summer, which changes when you should leave the city for the dunes. Summer heat makes midday outings uncomfortable and sometimes unsafe. Festival periods and holidays fill camps and cars quickly. Border areas such as Tanot and Longewala have their own access rules, which can change.

We plan around these realities so your itinerary works on the ground, not just on paper. If a plan looks too tight or badly timed, we will say so and suggest an alternative.

Desert camp stays

For many travellers, a night in the desert is the reason to come to Jaisalmer. We help you choose a camp stay that matches your comfort level and budget, and we confirm the tent type, facilities, meals and evening programme in writing before you book. See the desert camp page for what a typical stay involves.

Camel and jeep safaris

Safaris can be booked on their own or combined with a camp night. A camel ride suits travellers who want a slow, quiet experience; a jeep safari covers more ground and is more energetic. We also arrange sunset visits to the dunes for those who would rather not ride at all.

Taxis and transfers

We arrange cars with drivers for station and airport pickups, city sightseeing, the drive to the dunes, border-region day trips and longer journeys across Rajasthan. Vehicles are matched to your group size and luggage, from sedans for couples to larger vehicles for groups, subject to availability.

Tour packages

Our tour packages combine the city, the desert and the road into one plan. They are examples rather than fixed products: we adjust the days, stops, hotel nights and camp choice to suit you, and quote for the final version.

How we handle quotes

Every quote lists what it includes and what it does not, so you can compare it fairly. If something changes after you confirm, such as an extra stop or a different vehicle, we tell you what it affects before making the change. Clear expectations make for a calmer trip on both sides.

Who we plan for

We plan trips for couples, families with children, groups of friends, solo travellers and larger parties such as wedding guests or tour groups. Each has different needs: families may want shorter drives and earlier dinners, photographers may want to be on the dunes at first light, and groups need vehicles that keep everyone together. Tell us who is travelling and we will plan accordingly.

Planning ahead or at short notice

Booking a few weeks ahead gives the widest choice of camps and vehicles, particularly from November to February and around festivals. That said, many plans come together at short notice. If you are already in Jaisalmer, message us or visit the office and we will tell you what is possible for today or tomorrow.

A typical enquiry, start to finish

Most conversations begin with a short WhatsApp message: a date, a number of people and a rough idea, such as "two nights, one in the desert". We reply with a question or two to fill any gaps, for example how you are arriving and whether anyone in the group has mobility needs, and then send a suggested plan.

The plan comes with a written quote that lists what is included. You might ask to swap a jeep ride for a camel ride, add a stop at Kuldhara or change the pickup time. We revise the quote each time. Once you are happy, we confirm, share your driver or camp contact before the day, and stay reachable while you travel.

Working with drivers and camps

A good trip depends on the people you meet on the day: the driver who collects you at 5 a.m. from the station, the camel handler who walks beside you, the camp staff who serve dinner. We coordinate between them so timings line up and everyone knows what has been agreed.

When you confirm a booking, the details you agreed with us are passed on to the people delivering each part of it. If something needs to change on the day, one message to us is enough; we handle the calls.

Seasons shape everything

Our work changes through the year. From October to March, the city is busy, camps are full and most days are spent outdoors. In the hot months, plans move to early mornings and evenings, and air-conditioned vehicles matter more. During the monsoon, the desert can turn briefly green and the city is quieter.

Whatever the season, we build the plan around the conditions you will actually face, and we will tell you honestly if a particular activity is uncomfortable at that time of year.

Travelling with special requirements

If anyone in your group uses a wheelchair, has difficulty walking on sand, needs a specific diet or is travelling with an infant, tell us early. Some parts of Jaisalmer, especially the steep fort lanes and the soft dunes, are harder to manage, and it helps to plan alternatives such as viewpoints reachable by car or shorter walks.

We cannot promise that every place will be accessible, but we will explain what each part of the trip involves so you can decide what suits you.

Our part in responsible travel

Jaisalmer depends on tourism, and the desert is fragile. We encourage travellers to carry refillable bottles, leave nothing behind on the dunes and treat working animals with care. We suggest visiting popular sights early, when they are calmer and cooler, and spending time in local shops and eateries in the old city.

Small choices add up in a place that welcomes many visitors each year.

Where to go next on this site

If you already know what you want, go straight to the desert camp, desert safari or taxi services pages. If you are still deciding, the tour packages page shows three sample itineraries, and our blog has practical guides on safari planning, first nights in camp and choosing a package. When you are ready, the contact page has every way to reach us.

Questions travellers often ask us

Before booking, people usually want to know three things: what exactly is included, how they will be met, and who to call if something changes. We answer all three in writing before you confirm. Your quote lists the inclusions, your confirmation gives the pickup point and time, and you receive the phone numbers you need before the day.

Other common questions are about the weather, what to pack, whether children can ride camels and how long the drives take. Our blog and the guides on each service page cover these in detail, and we are always happy to answer anything specific to your trip.

Why a single point of contact helps

A Jaisalmer trip often involves several parts: a pickup, a day of sightseeing, the drive to the dunes, a safari and a camp night. Booking each separately means several phone numbers and several sets of timings to keep track of. Arranging them together means one conversation, one quote and one contact if plans change.
