Three example plans, from a single day in the city to a longer trip toward the border. Days, stays and inclusions are adjusted for each group, so rates are quoted on request.
Day tripFirst-time visitors
Jaisalmer city sightseeing
The fort, the havelis and the lake in one well-paced day, with a car and driver so you are not walking between sights in the heat.

Day 2
Tanot and Longewala
Full-day drive to Longewala War Memorial and Tanot Mata Temple. Carry photo ID. Overnight in Jaisalmer.
Day 3
Kuldhara and the dunes
Visit the abandoned village of Kuldhara, then safari and overnight at a desert camp.
Day 4
Sunrise and departure
Morning on the dunes and drop to your hotel, station or airport.
Itineraries are examples. Hotel nights in Jaisalmer, camp type, meals, entry tickets and vehicle are confirmed in your written quote. Need only transport? See taxi packages.
Every itinerary is a starting point
The three packages show common ways to combine the city and the desert. They are not fixed products. You can add or remove days, swap a hotel night for a camp night, change the vehicle, or include sights that are not listed. We quote for the plan you end up with, not for a template.
Choosing between the three plans
The city sightseeing day suits travellers passing through Jaisalmer or those who have already been to the desert elsewhere. It covers the fort, havelis and lake without rushing.
The city and desert camp stay is the most popular format for first visits. You see the main sights, spend an afternoon on the dunes and wake up in the desert.
The extended itinerary adds a full day to Tanot and Longewala and a visit to Kuldhara. It suits travellers with a particular interest in history, or those who want to see more of the Thar beyond the dunes.
Where to stay in Jaisalmer
Hotels range from guesthouses in the old city lanes to larger properties on the outskirts. Staying near the fort puts you within walking distance of the main sights; staying further out is often quieter and has more space. We can suggest options or work around a hotel you have already booked.
What a package quote typically itemises
Your written quote states what is included. Depending on the plan, it may cover:
Vehicle and driver for each day, with the vehicle category
Station or airport pickup and drop
Desert camp stay, tent type and meals
Camel or jeep safari rides
Hotel nights in Jaisalmer, if requested
Items not included, such as monument entry tickets or personal expenses
Busy periods and festivals
Late December to early January is the busiest time of year in Jaisalmer, and Diwali holidays are also popular. The Desert Festival, usually held in January or February, draws large crowds. Camps and cars fill up quickly in these periods, so book early if your dates fall around them.
Adjusting for pace and interests
Some travellers want to see everything; others prefer a slower day with long lunches. If you are travelling with children or older relatives, we can shorten days and build in rests. Photographers may want to be on the dunes at sunrise; history enthusiasts may want more time at Longewala or the Jain temples. Tell us how you like to travel.
Payments and changes
Payment terms, including any advance and the cancellation policy, are stated in writing with your quote. If you need to change dates or plans after confirming, contact us as early as possible and we will tell you what can be adjusted.
Extending beyond Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer pairs naturally with Jodhpur, Bikaner or Udaipur. If you are planning a longer Rajasthan trip, we can include the onward drive in your package. See our taxi packages for multi-day routes.
A closer look at the city sightseeing day
The city day is designed around the heat. The fort comes first, while the lanes are cool and quiet. The havelis follow, and the middle of the day is left free for lunch and rest. The late afternoon is for Gadisar Lake, when the light softens, with an optional sunset at Bada Bagh or Vyas Chhatri.
If you prefer, we can reverse the order, or add Amar Sagar and the old Jain temples at Lodurva, both a short drive from the city.
A closer look at the city and camp stay
This two-day plan balances the city and the desert. The first morning is for the fort and havelis, followed by a rest before the afternoon drive toward Sam. A stop at Kuldhara breaks the journey. At the dunes, you ride or walk out for sunset, then spend the evening and night at camp.
On the second morning, wake for sunrise, have breakfast if included, and drive back to Jaisalmer. This leaves the afternoon free for onward travel or a slower visit to anything you missed.
A closer look at the extended itinerary
The four-day plan gives you time. Day one is a gentle introduction to the city after your arrival. Day two is a full day toward the border, with Longewala and Tanot. Day three covers Kuldhara and the dunes, with a camp night. Day four is for sunrise and departure.
Because the border day is long, we recommend an early night beforehand. If you would like an extra rest day in the city, the itinerary can easily stretch to five days.
Packages for photographers
Photographers usually want to be in the right place at the right time: the fort ramparts at first light, the havelis when the sun reaches the carvings, the dunes at golden hour and after dark for stars. Tell us what you want to shoot and we can arrange early pickups, extra time at key locations and a camp that suits night photography.
Packages for families
Families often do best with shorter days, a longer midday break and simple food. We can plan a camp with attached bathrooms, a short camel ride for children and flexible timings. Let us know the ages of children when you enquire.
What to prepare before you travel
Before you arrive, make sure everyone has a valid photo ID, especially if you plan to visit the border region. Pack for both warm days and cool nights in winter, or for strong sun in summer. Save our number and your driver's number in your phone, and share your arrival details with us a day or two before you travel.
Packages for couples and honeymooners
Couples often want a slower pace, a quieter camp, and time for sunset without a crowd. We can arrange a longer camel ride to a less busy part of the dunes, suggest camps with a more private setting where available, and leave evenings free. If you are celebrating a special occasion, tell us when you enquire.
Getting the most from a short trip
If you only have a day or two, focus on the fort in the morning and the dunes at sunset. These are the two experiences most visitors remember. Everything else, from the havelis to the lake, fits around them. We can help you prioritise if you are unsure what to skip.
Travelling in the hot months
Packages between April and June are planned differently. Outdoor sightseeing is kept to early mornings and late afternoons, with a long break at midday. Air-conditioned vehicles are recommended, and camp stays are best with a late-afternoon arrival. Travel is quieter in this period, but come prepared for strong heat.
What happens on the first morning
On the first day of your package, your driver meets you at the agreed point, usually the station, airport or your hotel, at the confirmed time. They will have your name and booking details. From there, the itinerary begins as planned, and you can always message us if you want to adjust the day.
